Here comes the real review on 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan MQB49 5C key programming using Keydiy KD-X4.
“Just wrapped up my first 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan add key job using KeyDIY—figured I’d share a few tips for anyone getting into these.
Overall, the job took me about an hour start to finish, and I was really happy with how smooth everything went once I had it figured out.
A few things I learned along the way:
Bring extra keys or shells
Removing the board portion can potentially damage the original, so having backup pieces is a smart move.
Keep the vehicle on the whole time with a battery maintainer
This is huge. If you damage the original key, when removing the shell, the car will still be on and you can still program the new keys.
If you hit a failure during key learning, it will not clearly tell you that SFD unlock is required. That was my hang-up. Once I realized it needed SFD unlock and used KeyDIY to handle it, everything went very smoothly.
If you accidentally damage the key during disassembly, you might still be able to read the data to make new keys and program. However, if you turn off the car while disassembling the key and damage the key. When you go back to turn on the car, you can’t and are in a all keys lost situation. But if car was left on it will allow you to go to key learning and learn new keys.
Used OEM remotes work
I used a used original Volkswagen remote with matching part numbers, and KeyDIY was able to overwrite the data—no need for an unlocked/new key.
Jusst look up the same part number of the customer’s key and buy a used one online. It will work.
Bring strong superglue because you have to cut open the key shell. Strong Glue and some clothes pins to hold down the case would help immensely when reassembling the shell.
End result
The new key worked flawlessly.
Hopefully this helps someone save some time on their first one”.
